The second-hand marketplace Users Express Displeasure About Size Modifications
Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused items being listed as the wrong size.
The second-hand shopping app has updated its sizing categories for women's and children's garments failing to inform all users about the change.
Digital Channels Backlash
Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms saying Vinted listings now show an altered size classification than originally posted as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the new system was more in line with other platforms.
They have suggested members to review their products and manually change the size when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Size Classification Updates
Earlier, the sizes had both one number and one letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Stories
Frankie Bridger, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," as the platform currently indicates.
Stephanie Gallen, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded on Vinted with size 14 labels were showing in the marketplace as measurements 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Required Changes
Charlotte Lunn, based in Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount following partial earnings loss," she said.
Marketplace Information
The app has more than 100 million users, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has proved a popular alternative versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This isn't the first time that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: previously, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options after backlash from users.
